“…For Where You Go” 50th Anniversary Sampler
“…for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge.
Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die,
I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the Lord do to me,
and worse, if anything by death parts you and me.” This was the
verse at my parents’ wedding, so I incorporate it into a design
for their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Based on that
verse, I composed a tribute to their marriage to complete the
design: “Your footsteps have been my path, your arms have been
my only home. Your family is mine, and we have made our own.
We are one in God, and with God. When we are parted in death,
we will be united in Heaven, for 50 golden years are not enough
to live our love for each other.”
The design is worked on 28 ct. antique white Cashel linen,
with Caron Collection Waterlilies; Rainbow Gallery Splendor,
Treasure Braid and Splendor silk ribbon, Mill Hill glass seed
beads and petite glass seed beads.
Design size is 391 x 571, about 14” x 20 ˝”.
The design is mostly cross stitch over one for the words, with
Rhodes hearts, encroaching cross stitch, weaving stitch,
fern stitch and spider web roses to complete the design. Complete
directions for personalization are included. A one page
graph is included for reference, but the stitching graph
is already enlarged to 9 pages for stitching ease, with
large clear stitch diagrams for the specialty stitches.
The alphabet and number charts are the same size grid
as the stitching chart to make it easier for personalizing –
simply copy the alphabet and number charts as many times as
needed to get the letters and numbers required, cut them out,
then tape them in place on the chart. Truly an impressive piece to
commemorate an impressive achievement!
